Covid-19 Update

We are vaccinating against Covid-19 in our office, though this is limited currently to those 12 and over. Nearly all of our patients have now been vaccinated, reaching 97% of all eligible patients. For all of our patients, we are actively doing nasal swab Covid-19 PCR sampling for those patients who are symptomatic with common Covid symptoms or for those may need testing for exposures or travel. As a medical facility, starting 4/3/23, masks are no longer required for all patients and staff, but we do recommend patients wear masks if they are presenting for an upper respiratory condition and similarly the staff will wear masks when around those same patients.

Practice Background

I have been in private practice Family Medicine in Napa since 2002 and have been practicing medicine for over 20 years. I began my professional career in a traditional medical practice, later transitioning into a concierge-style medical service in 2016.

We offer a primary care environment dedicated to the patient. Our practice has a smaller patient population, creating a less busy office, more scheduling flexibility, and better after-hours availability, making it a unique and improved care setting for you and the entire family.

With our current practice organization, we are able to focus less of our attention on the business and insurance side of medicine, and more on the patient, thus creating a more personal doctor-patient relationship. In addition, we are able to eliminate all co-pays or other deductible costs that are normally required by a patient’s insurance. We can also offer physical exams that are more extensive than typically allowed by insurance.

Dr. Jewell emphasizes that preventative care is the key to a healthier body. Maintaining a healthy diet and regular exercise, avoiding tobacco, and making safe choices all lead to a healthier life if implemented early. Likewise, early management of common diseases like hypertension and diabetes can have a significant impact on long term disease outcomes. Similarly, ensuring good mental health through proper lifestyle measures and appropriate treatment is necessary for a good quality of life and disease management.
